Now Trending: Elephant Prints

August 18, 2011 § 1 Comment

A few weeks ago, the big story was cat prints. But recently a bigger, cuter, much less allergy-inducing animal has stomped cats out of the picture: elephants.

The lovable creature’s emergence comes with the announcement of hip New York boutique Opening Ceremony buying Korean label Bean Pole’s collaboration line with Kim Jones, the new style director of Louis Vuitton menswear. The line consists of shirts, shorts, and backpacks printed with images of tiny elephants doing something indiscernible with their trunks (perhaps eating peanuts?). Here are some promotional pictures.

Paul Smith also hopped on the trend this season with Escher-esque elephant print shirts in grey/blue and creme/lime color combos. Don’t they make you miss Babar?

The animal prints are adorable. I just worry that if worn the wrong way, perhaps with my Keds, that I’d be mistaken for a lost child.

If you live in Korea, you can get the elephant prints at your nearest Bean Pole. If not, check out Opening Ceremony boutiques in New York and Los Angeles as well asĀ Opening Ceremony online.
